ABOUT OUR FARM
Olympus Fields LLC is a little farm in Southern Wisconsin about 30 minutes East of Madison. Our family-run farm raises Jacob sheep, beef cattle, Californian rabbits, meat, and laying birds, as well as pigs. In addition to the many animals, we currently grow about a half acre of produce between a vegetable garden, herbs, and orchard. We have always raised our own meat and with the rising meat and produce prices, we would like to share our knowledge on farming as well as provide affordable home-grown and homemade products.
Our Mission: Regenerative Farming
We have always liked the idea of sustainability and making sure that what we do is something that can continue to provide. One of the most important considerations for how to become sustainable is soil health. Through research and listening to the community of activists behind soil health we found the practice of Regenerative Farming. In order for there to be a future for our farm, we believe that regenerative practices are the best route to go.

Thanks to amazing people, we have made progress, albeit slow progress, but progress nonetheless towards regenerative farming. We have partnered with a local grocery store to take all of their daily food waste to process and feed to our livestock or to process for compost that will be used in the many garden beds around the farm. Another thing that we currently do towards striving for regenerating the soil is rotational grazing our livestock from pasture to pasture growing the soil nutrients and in turn, growing soil health.

What is Regenerative Farming?
-
Regenerative farming is using farming or ranching management that regenerates the health of the soil and in turn the earth. When you restore the soil with the soil microbes that are killed off during the use of traditional farming, (using tilling practices, pesticides, and artificial fertilizers) the soil is able to absorb and use more of the carbon that is in the air causing climate change.
Why is Regenerative Farming important?
-
It restores the state of soil so that the plants you grow can grow the best they can and when you have healthy plants you produce healthy crops for both human and animal consumption.
-
It changes the ecosystems to be healthier, more productive, and humans are less reactive to common allergens.
How to become more regenerative in your practices.
-
compost natural waste (yes you can compost human poop)
-
As a society, we have a very negative reaction to poop but it is completely unnecessary.
-
-
rotational graze livestock, they should never be in food lots
-
don't till fields or gardens
