Laying Hens

After an unfortunate event in the old chicken coop with rats and outgrowing the old coop, our laying hens are currently residing in a temporary coop in the big barn until their new coop is built (coming 2023). We are in the process of building a large-scale chicken tractor using the frame of an old trailer. This tractor will be put to use this coming year and will be moved around to the different pastures as part of the livestock rotation. (1st sheep and cattle get the pasture, the cattle will eat the grass that is 6" or longer and the sheep will eat grass 3" and longer, once they have eaten the pasture the chickens have their turn, eating the bugs and grain crumbs as well as spreading the sheep and cattle manure to fertilize the pasture evenly.)
